Many of you may have seen the election results by now and know that Glendale’s Measure N was defeated 19,767 (71%) to 8,101 (29%). While it was unfortunate that we did not prevail, we did not lose either.
8,101 votes is a lot of political capital that the coalition was able to build with a budget of under $8,000.00. Our rate of return on dollars spend was $1.00 per vote compared to $10.00 per vote that the opposition spent. For those not knowledgeable, between the city and special interest, the opposition spent in excess of $180,000 and counting in opposing us.
Going forward, it should be known to all that the coalition will not stand idle and will engage any measure that will shine a light on Glendale practices and bring them into compliance with the Coalition’s mission of transparent and responsible government.
We are tremendously proud of the 8,101 votes we were able to muster. Certainly that will put us in a position to advocate and win for candidates for a city council seat. Going forward the coalition will continue to build upon our knowledge and the community and voter relationship. We now know how to effectively run a campaign built on data and personal relationships. Through this election we have built the different teams we needed to run an efficient campaign on any measure ballot that may come up in the future. We have developed our knowledge, personnel, and resources to engage in any election on a moments notice. We are a much stronger organization today than what we were when we began the campaign on Measure N. That by any measure is a win for the coalition.
Winston Churchill once said, “Success consists of going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm.” Measure N has elevated our game and

earned us a huge amount of respect at our own capabilities. Those who previously would easily mislead voters know they have awakened an organization that will not back down from challenges and will galvanize the necessary votes and resources to hold politicians accountable to the promises they make and false statements they espouse.
To Glendale politicians and special interest, the Coalition is much more capable today, much more organized today, and we are watching you.
