John Samuel

John Samuel has been a Glendale resident since 1950 and is a Board Member of the Glendale Coalition for Better Government. He retired from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department as a Station Commander after serving for 32 years in law enforcement. Working for the Sheriff's Department he had numerous assignments including various Stations, SWAT and instructing at the Academy. He has also worked for the City of Glendale as a civil engineer and the City of Burbank as a police officer. Since retiring, Mr. Samuel has been on contract with the County of Los Angeles as an Administrative Hearing Officer, adjudicating parking and vehicle registration violations. During the Viet Nam era, he was trained in heavy weapons-infantry and finished his service as an Army Captain, commanding a Military Intelligence unit. His interests include karate, diesel trucks, motorcycle riding, and politics.
