Vote No on C, Stop Greed
Vote No on “C” and stop political greed. City council members are adequately compensated for the one day a week attending city council meeting. In addition to a salary, they are provided with free healthcare, a free vehicle, free cell phone allowances, lifetime pension and many other benefits all for a one day a week job. Measure “C” will transform our part-time citizen policymaker to a generously compensated career politician.

Career politicians can not be trusted to set their own salary. The Glendale city council has repeatedly failed to set term limits on their re-election. When they can not limit their time in office, they can not be trusted to limit their salary. Measure “C” will eliminate limits on politicians paying themselves and will encourage abuse of power and self praise for more pay. Glendale city council is well compensated for the one day a week job. Public participation by council members in excess of the one day a week is for their own political aspirations and re-election and not to serve the public.
Vote No on “C” and stop public service from becoming a profitable and lucrative business for career politicians. Glendale needs politicians who serve the public out of commitment to civic duty and pride. We don’t need profiteers who seek to fatten their wallets while they monopolize their hold on public office. Allowing politicians to set their own salary is dangerous and contrary to the spirit of selfless service to the public with humility and respect.
I urge you to vote NO on “C” and stop career politicians from becoming wealthy career politicians. Let’s promote a democracy that attracts individuals who seek to serve out of civic duty and not those who wish to profiteer from the public.
