Measure L Passes by a Wide Margin
The results are in and the citizens of Glendale voted overwhelmingly in favor of Measure L, imposing term limits on our City Council. Over 16,000 votes were collected with 85% of Glendale citizens voting in favor of the measure.
Measure L represents a change in the political tone of our city. The move toward transparent, responsible, and sustainable government just gained significant momentum, and we all deserve to celebrate.
This is a proud day for Glendale and its citizens. Our city now serves as an example of the power of constituents. Let us continue on this path to better government, and secure the best possible local government for ourselves and our families.
Measure L limits Glendale city council members to maximum of three terms, or 12 years of total service. Previously served terms by incumbent council members are not counted retroactively. Seated council members are subject to the new measure beginning with this year’s election.
The Coalition congratulates and commends re-elected Council Member Sinanyan for committing to 3 terms including the one term completed prior to the passing of term limits. Hopefully the clear and unequivocal passing of term limits will also move other previously elected officials to move on from their current post and open up the opportunity to serve for other Glendale residents.
