Friedman Was Not Good for Glendale, And Will Not Be Good for the 43rd Assembly District.
Glendale City council woman Laura Friedman in her attempt to win over supporters, has painted herself as someone who made “tough decisions during the recession to keep the city’s budget balanced” But her concerns about the city budget stops when it comes to her own pay. Laura Friedman voted to have her pay increased by placing ballot measure C on the 2015 that was soundly defeated by the voters and with the efforts of the Glendale Coalition for Better Government.
Glendale has had a long history of overpaid bureaucrats egged on by council members to bilk taxpayers. Look no further than former Glendale Police Chief Randy Adams who went to work for the corrupt City of Bell costing its taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars in pension obligations. Even retired City Manager Jim Starbird who hired Randy Adams is claiming damages from the City of Glendale’s taxpayers for $1 million dollars for a broken sidewalk he alleges caused his wife’s death. He filed a claim against Glendale in a trip-and-fall matter last week. No surprise that he’s also supporting Friedman for her Assembly run. Its all about the money folks. For some public employees and politicians the concept of public service has become public fleecing.
This was not even the first time where personal benefit of council members overrides the basic good for Glendale. In 2011 while in the middle of a recession where the city’s police, general employee unions and department executives agreed to reduce their salaries, and pay a larger share into their health care and pension plans to save the city, Glendale city council including Laura Friedman was contemplating increasing their pay. The Glendale news press headline stated “Amid redevelopment cuts, council ponders increasing their pay” to the shock of Glendale residents.
This is not being fiscally responsible as Friedman would want voters to believe. This is just about more pay for Friedman. Friedman could not get the pay she wanted in Glendale and is looking to get a higher pay as a state Assembly member. This is not to mention the mess of the development she caused in Glendale. Friedman was not good for Glendale and will not be good for the 43rd district.
Stay tuned! more to follow on the over-development of downtown Glendale with all the traffic and decline in quality of life during the term of Glendale Council member of Laura Friedman.
